Location Thompson, CT Windham County
Rated: Moderate, Uphill, rocky, about 2 miles round trip.

From the intersection of route 200 and 193 in Thompson Connecticut, head northeast on route 193. You will travel 1.6 miles down route 193 and come to a Y in the road. Leave route 193 here and bear right onto East Thompson Road. You will pass the Raceway Golf Course, quickly followed by the Thompson Speedway, then a cemetery. After traveling 3.1 miles from route 193, be sure you bear right at the next Y, staying on East Thompson road. From this Y continue another 1.9 miles into Massachusetts to find High Street on the left. Park directly across the street from High Street on the right.

From the intersection of routes I-395 and 16 in Massachusetts, take exit #2 route 16 east. When you see the sign for the Douglas town line on the left, continue driving another 2.5 miles to Cedar Street. Drive .7 of a mile down Cedar Street to an intersection and stop sign. Turn right onto S.W. Main Street and drive 2.7 miles to find High Street on the right. Park directly across the street from High Street on the left.

Go around the brown metal gate blocking the trail to vehicles. Cross a nice wooden bridge and quickly come to a 4 way intersection with the abandoned Air Line Railroad bed. Take a right at 240 degrees onto the old railroad line. Keep hiking on the railroad bed until you come to a metal gate across the trail. Keep walking past the gate until you come to the first trail to your left. You will also see a granite Massachusetts, Connecticut border marker. Go left up this trail which is blazed in dark blue. The trail goes uphill and is very rocky. Follow it until you come to the granite marker that marks the border where three states meet, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Go to the corner of the marker that has Connecticut on one side and Massachusetts on the other. Take a reading of 338 degrees and walk 16 steps over a big rock into the brush to another big rock. From that rock take a reading of 310 degrees and walk 12 steps to another smaller rock to find the letterbox. Go back exactly the same way that you came.
