Pets on a leash are permitted in picnic areas and on hiking trails. Pets are not allowed in buildings or on decks, terraces or walkways leading to the castle.

Park in the main parking lot and walk up to the Castle. Bear left on the road and follow the sign "To River". Keep following the gravel road until you see a wooden stairway off to the right. Follow this trail and it will start to descend with the river to your left. Part way down you will take an unmarked trail to your right. Follow it to the 2 sister beech tree on the left of the trail. You will find Snooping Around Gillette's Castle in a crevice in the rock outcropping directly behind this tree.

You can go back the way you came or continue down the trail to a very nice picnic area right by the water and a small beach (no swimming allowed) where you can cool your feet off in the water. Follow the trail back the way you came to get to your car.
